Enter the Great Pumpkin Carving & Decorating Contest!
Be sure to enter the Great Pumpkin Carving & Decorating Contest at Leeds Jane Culbreth Library! This is a new special event in conjunction with Leeds Downtown Trick or Treat event. See details below for dates and times to drop off your decorated or carved pumpkin to enter the contest and for the viewing/judging of all pumpkins. It’s going to be a fabulous time!!

Drop off your pumpkin at the circulation desk on Saturday, Oct. 29th 10AM-2PM
Viewing & Voting
Monday, Oct. 31st 1pm-5pm
During the Downtown Trick or Treating
Participants will create a carved or decorated pumpkin at home and fill out an entry form.
Winners will receive a gift card to a local business. Anyone can stop by the Library to view the entries and vote for your favorite on Monday, Oct 31st.

Meet us at the Leeds Fire Station at 10:30am for My Story Town community program. Join us Tuesday, October 11th at 10:30 at Leeds Fire Station 1, 1081 Park Drive Leeds, AL. 35094 (across from the police department and in front of the Leeds Splash Pad).
We are excited to present the newest Leeds Jane Culbreth Library program -My Story Town. We will hear stories and take a tour of the fire department.
Special Thanks to our partners: Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce and Leeds Redevelopment Authority (RDA) and Everyone Leeds for donating stickers and Leeds My Story Town Passports.

October is Cook Book Month
October is National Cookbook Month and we think it’s a perfect time to celebrate with us by pulling out a favorite cookbook or finding a new one from the wide variety of mouthwatering cookbooks available at Leeds Jane Culbreth library. We will be sharing, swapping, and making recipes all month so be sure to check out our social media post.

October 2022 Library Calendar
Check out our October 2022 Calendar at Leeds Jane Culbreth Library. We’re excited about this month’s activities and look forward to sharing more information about each event and activities soon. A lot of changes have been taking place at the library so we hope you stop in soon to see what’s happening, We have been moving bookshelves, books and furniture around to make more room for you to come into the library and stay a while. Whether you want to come by and use our computers, bring your laptop or tablet to work or do some research or just want to chill out and read a book, the library is here for you. Our calendar this month includes an extra page that tells a little more about what the event is and what age group it’s designed for. We hope that’s a help to have something at a glance.
Another thing we are excited about is our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten which is already in full swing. This is a great program for your preschoolers to enroll in a full and exciting way to get on a plan to read 1000 books before they get to Kindergarten. We have badges and prizes for your children as they come in each month to check their reading progress. Ask us more about this.
Our Monday Movie Classics are a great event if you would like to bring your lunch and relax with a classic movie together. Monday’s class is Alice in Wonderland.
We also plan a Halloween-a-Thon or Movie-thon all month long to celebrate Halloween so we have movies planned all throughout the month for you and your children. We’ll end the month with a pumpkin painting contest on Halloween where you can bring your completed pumpkin anytime during the day on Halloween and we will judge the pumpkins right after Downtown Trick or Treat so be sure to join in the fun!
We also have a Teen Art Challenge with Artober that your teen can participate in all month long.
There’s so much to choose from so be sure to mark you calendars on those events that interest you the most. We continue to plan activities for all ages.

Join us for Field Trip Friday
We are very excited about Field Trips Fridays. This Friday, September 30, is the Homecoming Parade which is scheduled to begin at 1:30 pm. Our plans for this month’s Field Trip Friday is to all meet outside at Leeds Jane Culbreth Library and watch the Homecoming Parade together. Please join us for a great time together and let’s get that team spirit going!!!
