My Story Town – Leeds, Alabama

My Story Town

LEEDS, ALABAMA

My Story Town

Once upon a time long, long ago in a place called Leeds, Alabama a library was set in the middle of town. For nearly one-hundred years, the library was a special place for the town’s people to visit. However, this is a story about the recent and intriguing routines of the library’s members. At exactly 10 o’clock on the second Tuesday of every month each of the town’s people quickly finish their breakfast.

They fasten colorful buttons on their shirt as they dress. They reach into their secret hide-a-way spot in search of their small green passport. Then, clinch the passports filled with stamps and stickers as they prepare to leave. The town’s children, excited with anticipation, want to jump around. However, they silently sit waiting and listen to the sounds of the adults getting ready. The children check to see if they placed their favorite buttons on their shirt and silently count them one-by-one. Finally, cars move into the streets of Leeds and begin forming lines that circle around and stop.

The children look out their windows and peak inside their passports. Whispering to themselves they say, “I can’t wait to see where we’ll explore today!”

People of all ages are invited to My Story Town. This is a program designed to inform and build community by using an exciting story time experience to meet and learn together about the pre-selected locations throughout The City of Leeds.
